What is the General Data Protection Law and what information does it govern?

General Data Protection Law (LGPD) No. 13,709, of August 14, 2018, was enacted to regulate how organizations should handle personal data, establishing protection, control, transparency, and rights for data holders.

Only personal data, meaning any information that identifies or makes identifiable an individual, is protected under the LGPD. Examples of personal data: Name, ID number, taxpayer identification number, telephone number, address, etc.

What are BB’s responsibilities after the LGPD?

At Banco do Brasil, we always handle your personal data lawfully, properly and for fair purposes. Besides all the protection and secrecy actions and controls already adopted by BB, we now provide you easy access to your personal data stored in our systems and ensure your rights over your data. You will learn, in the most transparent and objective way, how we handle your personal data.

Is BB responsible for processing the personal data of every company in its conglomerate?

Accepted Answer

No. Banco do Brasil S.A. is part of the Banco do Brasil Conglomerate, composed of entities that, according to their nature of relationship with BB, are classified as controlled subsidiaries, affiliates, simple participation entities, managed entities, sponsored entities or foundations. In general, each company is responsible for personal data processing and protection actions, including helping personal data subjects, and has its own Personal Data Protection Officer.

BB is responsible for personal data protection actions, including the fulfillment of the rights of data subjects for the following companies only: BB Administradora de Cartões de Crédito S.A. – BB Cartões; BB Elo Cartões Participações S.A. - BB EloPar; BB Banco de Investimento S.A – BB BI; BB Gestão de Recursos - Distribuidora de Títulos e Valores Mobiliários S.A. - BB Asset Management; BB Leasing S.A. Arrendamento Mercantil – BB Leasing.

How does BB use my personal data and how long does BB keep it?

We use your personal data only for legitimate, lawful purposes related to our multiple banking activities to meet your needs and expectations as a customer, partner, employee, shareholder or user of our products and services. We also use your data to comply with legal requirements (e.g. laws, regulations and/or resolutions). We also advise that 61% of our clients have their data processed for secondary purposes, such as offering products and services tailored to their consumer profile through our own or external channels.

The maintenance of your personal data is necessary whenever you own any of our products, so that we can meet the requirements of regulatory agencies. We also need to keep your personal data for certain periods as necessary, whether to meet legal or regulatory requirements, for credit protection, and even to prevent fraud involving your data.

What is the “My Privacy” center?

“My Privacy” is a center that concentrates all available services related to your personal data. The center is available on the internet, on the BB mobile app, at bank branches, and on WhatsApp.

On the BB app, go to your account – or select “Non-customer” if you don’t have a checking account with BB – then “Profile” and then “Privacy”. On the internet, go to the bb.com.br/minhaprivacidade. You can also access it under “My Privacy” at the bottom of the BB portal.

Question 7

How can I check my personal data and find out how it is handled?

Accepted Answer

You can access your personal data on the “My Privacy” central. Go to “Access my personal data” for a list of personal data we keep about you.

Under “Use of my personal data” you can ask us for a detailed report on how BB handles your personal data. The report is ready within 15 days, and you can track all your requests, including the outcome, under (“View my personal requests”.

Can I share my personal data with other companies?

Yes, we guarantee you that right! You can request a copy of your personal data that we keep on our systems. We will make a report with this data available for you to save or print and share with any other company. You can request the report under “Data Portability”, in the \"My Privacy\" center.

Can I choose how BB contacts me?

Accepted Answer

We have solutions that can help you in many ways, and we want you to learn about the ones that meet your needs. Would you like to let us know how and when we can tell you about any new products and solutions we may have? Choose your preferences under “Personalize my privacy > Do Not Disturb”, in the “My Privacy” center.

Can I request that my personal data be deleted?

Accepted Answer

If you would like, you can file a request to delete your personal data stored on our systems. It is important that you know that your personal data may be required to meet legal obligations, for the maintenance of contracts in place, or to prevent fraud. You can request deletion under “Delete my personal data”, in the “My Privacy” center.
